Then we went to Memphis and saw the giant Ramses statue. My kids were amazed by its size. We had a quick lunch at a clean place with pizza for the kids. Overall, this was a good tour, with an excellent guide and some wonderful highlights. My main reservation is that I think the tour description could be clearer about how the eight-hour day is actually structured. The good: We were picked up on time at 8 AM, and having a dedicated driver and a separate tour guide was a definite plus. Our guide, Hassan Karem, was very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the tour. The Citadel and the mosque were amazing, and the other sightseeing stop was also very enjoyable. The buffet lunch was another highlight. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious, and the service was excellent. If you are given a choice of lunch options, I would definitely recommend the buffet. The one thing to know: The main sightseeing portion of the tour was essentially finished by around 11:00 AM. The remaining portion of the advertised eight-hour tour is largely lunch and time at the market/bazaar. That may be perfect for travelers who enjoy shopping, but we aren’t shoppers, particularly in the heat with vendors constantly approaching you. We spent about 20 minutes in the shopping area and then asked to return to our hotel, arriving around 1:30 PM. I don’t think that’s something I can fairly fault Hassan for—he was simply following the itinerary and was very accommodating when we asked to leave early. My recommendation to the tour company would be to make the itinerary more explicit about how much of the eight-hour tour is devoted to lunch and shopping. That would help travelers decide whether this particular tour is the right fit for them. Overall, a good experience, with an excellent guide and some truly enjoyable highlights. Just know what you’re signing up for if shopping isn’t your thing.Posted on Tripadvisor Lune GVerified Tried counting the pyramid stones I went with a group of friends and we challenged each other to count the stones in the Great Pyramid. We knew it was impossible but we tried anyway. Our guide Tamer told us there are over 2 million stones. We gave up after counting 100. We then went to the Sphinx and took funny photos with our hands on our heads like the Sphinx. At the museum we saw the golden throne and the jewelry of Tutankhamun. Tamer let us spend extra time in the jewelry hall because we were so interested. We had a great lunch at a local restaurant. The day was full of challenges and laughter. Admission fee was 125 usd each. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was competitive and playful. Crowd size was large but we managed. Staff were energetic and joined our fun. Best for friends who like a challenge. Yasser gave us a small prize for trying to count the stones.Posted on Tripadvisor Sawyer FVerified Driver told me about the best restaurants I asked our driver where to eat in Cairo and he gave me a list of his favorite local restaurants. He was so helpful. Our driver Maher was friendly and knowledgeable. The car was clean and the AC was cold. He drove safely and we had a nice conversation. We arrived at my hotel in 37 minutes. He helped me with my bags and said goodbye. The meet and greet was easy and he had a sign with my name. Admission fee was 27 usd for the transfer. Length of visit was 37 minutes. He also took me to a viewpoint where I could see both the Bent and Red Pyramids. We went to Saqqara and saw the Step Pyramid. We finished at Memphis. The car was good and we had cold water. I had a lovely time focusing on Dahshour. Admission fee was 90 usd. Length of visit was 8 hours. Atmosphere was focused on Dahshour. Crowd size was tiny.
